About Us
Sungwoo International Patent and Trademark Law Office is a firm of specialist intellectual property attorneys and engineers. We combine technical expertise in a broad range of disciplines with legal expertise in the field of intellectual property to protect the commercial interests and innovations of our clients.
The firm was established in 1999 and has grown steadily year after year. We currently have around 70 people in total at Sungwoo, including patent attorneys and engineers who are supported by a network of technical advisors, specialists in foreign language and legal practice, drawing specialists, and administrative personnel who work to ensure accuracy and timely response.
The firm’s practice is comprehensive, encompassing all aspects of intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, litigation, counseling, licensing, transactions, and copyright. Our areas of technical expertise include mechanical/industrial technology, semiconductor design and processing, consumer electronics, telecommunication and information technology, chemicals, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
We have successfully prosecuted thousands of domestic patent and trademark applications, and we have an extensive network of foreign associates with whom we cooperate in the successful prosecution of foreign patent and trademark applications entrusted to our care.

Mr. Choi graduated from Dankook University with a B.S. in Industrial Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and many years of experience as an Examiner for Electronic and Mobile Communication technology in the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
His legal experience covers time spent in Nam Sa-Jun and Yuri-Ahn Patent Offices, he has opened his own office under his own name in the past, and is now the senior patent attorney here at Sungwoo International Patent & Trademark Law Office.
Han-Ho LEE
Vice-President
Mr. Lee graduated from Kwangwoon University with a B.S. in Electronic Communication, and completed a Semiconductor Course for CEOs at the Industrial Information Graduate Korea University.
Before establishing this firm, Mr. Lee gained experience at the Semiconductor and Digital Media Division of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. as chief of the Patent Team for 21 years.
He has many years of experience related to intellectual property consultation in a variety of fields.
Seong-Hwan KIM
Patent Attorney
Mr.Kim graduated from Kwangwoon University with a B.S. in Electronics Engineering, and passed the bar exam in 2001.
His specialties at Sungwoo lie with International and domestic patent application, registration and litigation related to the Semiconductor and telecommunication, Electronic circuit technologies.
Prior to coming to Sungwoo, Mr. Kim worked for Daeil International Patent & trademark Office and Yoon & Yang LLC, and he speaks English and Japanese.
